Stalham Brass Bandís director of music Dr Tim Thirst received his MBE from Prince Charles at an investiture at Buckingham Palace last Wednesday.
Dr Thirst, whose accolade was announced in the New Year's Honours, was following in his fatherís footsteps after being made an MBE for services to the Stalham Brass Band, youth music and the community in Stalham.
The 58-year-oldís dad Gerald received the same honour for similar reasons in the 2000 New Yearís list but died shortly before the ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Dr Thirst, of East Ruston, said that during the presentation, the Prince chatted about his visit to Stalham earlier in the week, as well as the new brass music training scheme run by the band for 50 young people which has just started.
He said he looked forward to the new trainees visiting Sandringham with the band to play for the Royal Family once again, after their training was complete.
